For the second week of the holidays, on one fine sunny afternoon, my mom coached me to make agar agar, as i wanted to have a feel of baking before really starting on my intended product. I was pretty nervous but excited, as its my maiden attempt.
Prior to it, i went to a confectionary shop in Jurong East Central to purchase the ingredients needed. Actually, all it takes is just 3 ingredients - coconut juice, agar-agar packet powder, and fine sugar. Basically, the ratio is, 9 cups of liquid (in this case, coconut juice) to a packet powder and loads, loads of sugar. After boiling the mixture, i poured it into a few shape moulds and left it to cool and take its shape, before putting it into the fridge to harden it.
Due to my amateur experience, the end result did not taste really great, therefore i was a little disappointed. Still, i am glad to have learned something new from it, and had lots of fun at the same time.
