For the first week of holidays, i went to a nearby library to borrow books related to confectionary making, to give myself a headstart and understanding of what is confectionary making about. They provided me detailed explanation on the how different factors affect the ingredients in different manners, as well as how to work with them and the techniques involved. For example, a simple ingredient like sugar, comes in different forms - sugar cubes, coarse sugar, fine sugar. Also, heating sugar with water gives you sugar syrup. For making certain candies like taffy, more advance techniques like "pulling" of the candy, is involved. This gives me a more in depth into the world of confectionary making.
I went online to google and search for even further resources. The world wide web is very useful, i learned alot more from watching videos, reading step-by-step articles which are supported by photos, as well as personal user experiences from the relevant forums.
